Artist Biography

Michael Burkard received his BA from Hobart College and MFA from the Iowa Writers' Workshop in 1973. His ten poetry collections include Ruby for Grief (University of Pittsburgh, 1981), My Secret Boat: a notebook of prose and poems (W.W. Norton, 1990), Entire Dilemma (Sarabande Books, 1998), and Unsleeping (Sarabande Books, 2001).

Tom Sherman is an artist and writer. He works in video, radio and live performance, and writes all manner of texts. His interdisciplinary work has been exhibited internationally, including shows at the National Gallery of Canada, the Vancouver Art Gallery, the Musee d’art contemporain and the Museum of Modern Art.

Jenny Carolin is a figurative painter who received her BFA from The Columbus College of Art and Design. She is currently and MFA student in the painting program at Syracuse University.

Jennifer Wilkwy is an artist who works in a variety of media. In her work she considers what it means to be ill and examine the roles of the patient, the doctor, and the hospital in treatment and healing. She is currently an MFA student in Photography at Syracuse University.

Esther Maria Probst, Katie Micak, and Anne Hirsch are video artists. Currently they are MFA students in the video program at Syracuse University.

Khanh Le is a visual artist working in photography and printmaking. In his work he explores the Vietnamese American experience. His work asks broad questions regarding identity, class and race. He is currently an MFA student in the printmaking program.

Sarah McCoubrey is a landscape painter. She exhibits her work nationally and is represented by the Locks Gallery in Philadelphia and Robert Brown Contemporary Art in Washington, D.C. She has received numerous awards for her work including a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in Painting in 2004, two Saltonstall Foundation Awards, a Maryland Council of the Arts Fellowship Award and a National Endowment for the Arts Individual Artist Award.
