A Unique Syracuse University Course Offering, FALL 2007

This is a one-time course, open to all grad and upper level undergrad students interested in community-based projects. Social Sculpture is a unique opportunity to work collaboratively with artist Marion Wilson as a team to completely re-furbish and transform a used 30’ RV into the “Mobile Literacy Arts Bus” (M-LAB), as a public sculpture project. Students will be introduced to aspects of transportation/interior design, grant writing, fund-raising, fabrication techniques, community programming and marketing for the Mobile Literacy Arts Bus (M-LAB). Students will also work collaboratively in the community through the Partnership for Better Education with the Syracuse City School District.
